As a result of the earthquake whose echoes reached as far as Israel, a hotel was severely damaged and declared a total lost dangerous building that was scheduled for demolition. Naturally, the incident resulted in a major crisis for the hotel owner.
In contravention of the recommendation of well-known attorneys, who tried to offer their services to the hotel owners to settle the damage, including spreading of the claim and actions to be taken to indemnify him, the hotel owner decided to accept a completely different recommendation. The recommendation was not to instigate a claim case, but instead to appoint an insurance consultant to have contacts with the insurance companies and the owner, based on legal advice that would be given behind the scenes.
Accordingly, a few days after the building was condemned for demolition, announcements were published in the weekend newspapers covering whole pages, in which the company and the owner thanked the insurance companies for enrolling to deal with the insurance event.
At the end of the process, without having to spend a single day in court, the hotel was rebuilt to a better quality standard than the previous one. The result was that the total compensation, de factor, was significantly greater than the damages that the attorneys had promised to recover in a long, expensive and mentally problematic lawsuit.
